Francesco Botticini
Francesco Botticini (1446–1498) was a talented painter of the Early Renaissance in Florence, admired for his graceful religious compositions and refined attention to detail. A pupil of Neri di Bicci, Botticini absorbed the influence of Fra Angelico and Sandro Botticelli, developing a lyrical style that blended spirituality with Renaissance naturalism.
His most celebrated masterpiece is the Assumption of the Virgin (c. 1475–1476, Uffizi Gallery), a monumental altarpiece filled with radiant color, delicate figures, and a celestial vision that reflects both Gothic tradition and Renaissance innovation. Botticini’s works, including numerous Madonnas and devotional paintings, reveal his ability to create serene, luminous, and deeply spiritual art.
