Il Sassetta (Stefano di Giovanni)
Il Sassetta (c. 1392–1450), born Stefano di Giovanni, was one of the most important painters of the Siena School during the Early Renaissance. His works combine the decorative elegance of Gothic tradition with the new naturalism and humanism of the Renaissance. Renowned for his poetic style, Sassetta created deeply spiritual and imaginative paintings filled with refined color harmonies and lyrical storytelling.
Among his masterpieces are the Sansepolcro Altarpiece and the Wool Guild Altarpiece, which reveal his mastery in both religious devotion and artistic innovation. His ability to blend Gothic grace with Renaissance depth influenced later Sienese painters, including Giovanni di Paolo and Sano di Pietro.
At Blue Surf Art, we offer museum-quality oil on canvas reproductions of Il Sassetta’s celebrated works. Each piece is hand-painted with precision to capture the luminosity, detail, and emotional power of the originals.
