Piero di Cosimo
Piero di Cosimo (1462–1522) was a highly original painter of the Florentine Renaissance, celebrated for his imaginative mythological scenes, eccentric personality, and richly detailed compositions. A pupil of Cosimo Rosselli, Piero combined Renaissance naturalism with fantastical invention, creating works that are both intellectually complex and visually striking.
His masterpieces include The Discovery of Honey, The Hunt (Uffizi Gallery), and The Liberation of Andromeda. Piero also painted religious works such as the Madonna and Child with Saints and numerous portraits, blending humanist ideals with his distinctive poetic vision. Known for his fascination with nature, animals, and myth, Piero di Cosimo remains one of the most inventive voices of the Italian Renaissance.
