Marietta Robusti
Marietta Robusti (c. 1560–1590), known as La Tintoretta, was a gifted Venetian painter and the daughter of Tintoretto. Trained in her father’s workshop, she gained recognition during her lifetime for her portraits and religious works, admired for their sensitivity, lifelike presence, and the dramatic Venetian style she inherited from her father.
Her surviving works, though few, reveal her skill in portraiture and devotional imagery. Notable examples include Self-Portrait as a Musician (Uffizi Gallery, Florence) and portraits of Venetian nobility. Lauded by contemporaries for her talent, Marietta Robusti was invited to work at the courts of Spain and Austria, though she remained devoted to her family in Venice. Her art reflects the strength of Venetian color and light, combined with her unique feminine perspective.
At Blue Surf Art, we recreate Marietta Robusti’s works with museum-quality, hand-painted oil on canvas reproductions.
